Beaches of Corfu

The entire coast of Corfu, from north to south, east side and west side, is dotted with accessible and bathing beaches, bathed by the typical blue and transparent sea of Greece. There are beaches for all tastes: sandy, pebbly and gravelly, rocky, tiny, kilometers long, lonely, crowded, for young people, for families, for couples….

Some, like the enchanting bays of the Paleokastritsa area, can only be reached by boat (but there is an excellent water cab service so getting there is no problem!).

Others instead, such as the long beaches of Ipsos and Dassia, are located in places with stores, bars and services and can be easily reached by car … or on foot, if your hotel is in the area!

How to reach Corfu

Corfu is one of the Greek islands closest to Italy;it is part of the Ionian Islands, an archipelago consisting of 7 major islands plus other uninhabited islands and islets so named by the sea that washes them. The Ionian Islands are located east of mainland Greece; in the case of Corfu, part of the west coast faces Albania.

Corfu Town is an elegant city, with many services and entertainment and a great location in the center of the island from which you can quickly reach all the main resorts: it is perfect as a base and is suitable for different types of vacation, even the seaside resorts of Ipsos and Dassia have something for everyone, young people, couples or families.

Other resorts, on the other hand, lend themselves better to a specific type of vacation. For example, Kavos is only recommended for young people looking for nightlife, while Paleokastritsa is for those interested more in the beauty of the landscape than the amount of clubs.

How to get around the island

In Corfu there are local buses that connect the capital Corfu Town with the most famous seaside resorts of the island; another way to reach the main tourist attractions is to use the hop on hop off tourist buses, which make stops in correspondence of the most interesting places.

If, however, you want to explore the island far and wide, stopping even in beaches and villages little known, the only way is to rent a car. You will be able to find local car rental companies, but it is advisable to book before departure with international companies that guarantee more services and security (often also more advantageous offers!).
